An "Awesome" weekend...

(click pics for a larger view)

This was one of theeeeee best weekends!
It was "awesome!" ...in more ways than one!
"Awesome" is the collection of FQs I took with me.
It was great to be in the mountains for the weekend...
I got a lot of sewing done...
had great food, fun, and fellowship
with Denise, a dear friend and "kindred spirit"...
... and
I was notified that I was
the winner of an Accuquilt GO! from
Here is my design wall which will come down this week!
This is the next room scheduled to be painted.
We painted the whole house before
moving in five years ago...
... time for a change!

It was a beautiful drive leaving town...
From my home,
we drove through this mountain pass on our way.
(Elevation through the pass is at 5280 feet.)
...and down the other side.
We grabbed a bite to eat in Ruidoso
and continued on to her place.

The views from the front deck.

Wonderful temperatures...

And friendly neighbors from the back deck...

Everyone had a great time!

⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘ ⁘

I must get some work done today!
Have a wonderful rest of the day, and
thanks for stopping by...

♪♪♫ ...on the road again!☺☺☺
Heading out to Lincoln National Forest ...

...for a sew-a-thon weekend retreat!

My friend's place is not too far away,
(just a couple of hours)
but the altitude is a bit higher
than here at home.
Crisp, cool autumn evenings!  Can't wait!

Have a great weekend,
and I'll see you Monday for...

Chocolate Chip Scone Anyone?

This morning was dreary and rainy.
A perfect day to bake,
grab a book and enjoy the weather.
(click pics to enlarge)

So I baked....
Help yourself to a scone...
and don't forget the
Devonshire Cream.

Fresh strawberries,
strawberry jam,
a chocolate chip scone with
Devonshire Cream,
and a
cup of coffee

Quite nice...

Have a good evening.

These are from our stay on
Chincoteague Island.

Assateague Lighthouse
Over 300 wild ponies live along Assateague Island.
Forty thousand visitors travel to watch the
Chincoteague Pony swim which has occurred since 1925.
The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department
began to hold its annual carnival in 1925
with an auction of some of the ponies after the swim.

We had lunch at Bill's Seafood Restaurant.
DH had a soft crab sandwich...

I opted for the chicken salad with Yukon Gold fries.

The following are just a few of the 300 or so
species of birds identified on the
Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
I was thrilled to get to see
and photograph some of these birds.
We stopped here along the road
because of a lot of activity.
I heard a familiar squawk across the road.

Then I spotted this bird slightly hidden.
So I waited.
